Urban Hike w/ lunch on the Bronx River Greenway-
Saturday, Sept. 21st!
Kerry and I are excited to share the latest updates with you about the hike this Saturday at the Bronx River Greenway. We have quite a crew forming. Perhaps 10 people?! We have a couple slight changes from the last email you saw. Please feel free to bring anyone along!
Also, please let us know if you are coming or not so we know who to wait for and where!
MEET UP TIME + PLACE:
We will be meeting at 9 am at the Brooklyn Meeting house (110 Schermerhorn St.). However, if you’d like to meet us at the starting point, we are heading to the 233rd stop on the 2/5 train, aim to meet us there by 10:30 am. (The 5 train doesn’t run in Brooklyn on Saturdays, so you may need to take a 4 then transfer to the 5 in Manhattan)
We are hiking from the 233rd entrance on the Greenway down to Soundview Park. From Soundview we will take the ferry back to lower Manhattan! See link: https://www.ferry.nyc/routes-and-schedules/route/soundview/
If you need to leave during the hike that’s totally fine. You can catch the train at several spots along the way down.
Initially we wanted to stop at Arthur Avenue to experience Little Italy, but we realized that it is far out of the way adding too much time/mileage to the hike. So, please bring lunch and snacks! Feel free to bring snacks to share with others too 🙂 We will plan to stop about half way but can decide as a group if we need to stop sooner.
We will pass several spots for bathrooms and water along the route. Definitely still bring water! Check out the map of the trail attached to this email.
The walk is basically the following 3 pasted together (total of about 10 miles,). You can brag to your friends about how you hiked 10 miles and got way over those 10,000 steps!
Feel free to call Kerry or myself if you can’t find us at the 233rd stop. Elena is 240-432-5386 and Kerry is at 347-429-4545.
